LEAVING A LEGACY – HERITAGE CLUB

TAKE THE TIME TO SHARE IN THE Y’S FUTURE

So much of what you do becomes part of the lives you touch.  The example you set, the traits they see in you and seek to reflect.  But what if it were possible to have the good you do live forever. 

A commitment to the Pocono Family YMCA’s Heritage Club is the greatest statement of support to the mission of the YMCA that a friend of the Y can make and become a catalyst for more good than you could ever do on your own. 

For over 100 years, the Y has devoted itself to serving youth, families, and our community.  The healthiest and happiest of these uphold an ethic of “giving back”. 

With your help, we can create a promising today and a brighter tomorrow for our kids, families and community. 

Charitable Bequests

This is the most commonly used planned giving method:  having your attorney include a charitable bequest for the Y in your estate plan. 

 
DONOR BENEFITS:

1. Your assets remain in your control
2. Your gift passes to the Y free of estate tax.

Gift of Insurance

You simply ask your insurance company for a beneficiary designation form and change the policy to include the Y for all or part of the proceeds.

 
DONOR BENEFITS:

1. You maintain control of your policy during life
2. Your estate receives an estate tax deduction
3. Your gift passes to the Y free of estate tax

Gift of Retirement Plan

Retirement plan principal left in an estate can be vulnerable to estate tax and income tax.  Leaving IRA principal to the Y, and other less tax-vulnerable assets to heirs provide tax-efficient benefits to both. 

 

DONOR BENEFITS:

1. You maintain control of your assets during life
2. IRA principal given to the Y is freed of income tax
3. Your gift passes to the Y free of estate tax

Charitable Income Plans

You give cash, stock, or real estate to an irrevocable trust or gift annuity program that pays you income during life, and then transfers what remains to the Y. 

 

DONOR BENEFITS:

1. You receive lifetime income
2. You get an immediate income tax deduction
3. You bypass or reduce capital gains tax
4. Your gift passes to the Y free of estate tax

Across the United States, more than 500,000 business leaders, community advocates, parents, teens and individuals who want to give back and support their neighbors volunteer at the Y. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods nationwide we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive, personal and social change.
 
With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, Y volunteers give men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.
 

 

 

VOLUNTEERS OF THE Y:

1. Lead our Board of Directors
2. Raise funds to ensure the Y is accessible to all members of the community
3. Coach our sports teams and teach many of our classes
4. Motivate and support youth in building the character strengths, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better   health, smart life choices, and the pursuit of higher education and goals
5. Extend a hand to help adults who want to do more, be more or live healthier
6. Participate in opportunities to give back and support neighbors

With an audience of over 7000 members, sponsorships are a great way to put your company’s name out in the community.  Events like our Making a Difference Gala and Golf Tournament, 5K Runs, Youth Sports, Healthy Kids Day and other Community Events provide significant marketing opportunities while providing support for the people in our community! Marketing benefits may include your logo on banners, the YMCA website, team t-shirts, flyers, press releases and lobby TV’s, just to name a few!

Our members and friends call us THEIR Y. We call them OUR greatest resource – the thousands of people who work alongside us and support our work to help our neighbors, learn, grow, and thrive.
 
What if we could harness all of that power and make an even greater difference on a bigger scale?
 
With programs from A – Z — like athletics to advocacy, dance classes to disease prevention, volleyball to volunteerism — we don’t just strengthen individuals, we strengthen our community.
